Martial Arts for Self Defense

A series of meditative and self-healing movements based on Chinese teachings that are over 6,000 years old, Taijiquan (T’ai Chi Ch’uan or Tai Chi) literally translates to "The Grand Ultimate Way of Life" as taught through movement. Also a Martial Art, Tai Chi is generally practiced as a non-contact, non-competitive sport for focus, self-awareness, health and relaxation while developing the mind and body. The slow, rhythmic and gentle movements and simple postures are very effective in returning the skeletal structure, muscles and organs to their natural alignment, improving coordination, relieving stress, strengthening the immune system, increasing longevity and promoting overall well-being.  At higher levels, the Martial skills are further developed and explored through partners practice including Partnered Forms, Pushing-Hands and other exercises.  Tai Chi is beneficial for all ages and all skill levels.
