Reno Dojo
Martial Arts for Self Defense
Our Children’s Classes Consist of:
Cubs:
3-5 year-old students learn basic motor skills for coordination and listening skills for developing discipline and the ability to follow instruction through exercises, challenges and games that keep them moving at an energetic pace. Topics of personal safety are reviewed, teaching the student what to do if ever lost or confronted by a predator. Not all predators are strangers, not all strangers are predators.
Leopards:
6-8 year-old students learn slightly more advanced motor skills and continue to develop their listening skills while training in new exercises that require more reasoning ability to provide greater mental challenge. Additional topics of personal safety are covered with more open discussion of what the student’s responses would and should be.
Panthers:
9-11 year-old students receive greater challenges learning forms and techniques that improve strength, balance, focus and flexibility, both physically and mentally. Further discussions on topics of personal safety and proper responses to various situations are examined.
Tigers:
12-14 year-old students gain a strong understanding of techniques and forms while continuing to increase their physical and mental skills. Stronger methods of physical and non-physical defense are trained and sharpened.
Dragons:
Children that have been involved for at least 5 years of training will qualify for membership to this group. Higher ranks, more advanced techniques and assisting in the instruction of the lower ranks are some of the honors available to the exceptional students that achieve this elite level.
